Hangul Pace is a typing test that runs in your browser. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no ads, and what you type never leaves your browser.
Analytics, only if you say yes
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, finished tests and finished games. It loads only after you choose Accept in the Analytics row at the bottom of the page. If you choose Decline, or choose nothing, the Google tag is never loaded and nothing is sent. You can change your answer at any time with Analytics settings under How it works.
When you accept, Google Analytics receives page views and these events:
test_startandtest_complete, with the test mode, the text (words or sentences), speed (WPM and 타 a minute), accuracy, whether the keymap was on, and whether the test came from a challenge linkgame_startandgame_over, for Hangul Rain: whether the keymap was on, the level the game started at, and at the end the score, the level, how many words were cleared, accuracy and how long the game lasted. A game sends notest_startortest_complete; itsrestartandpractice_startcarry the textgameshare_openandshare, with the test mode, the text, your WPM and how you shared (copy, download, an app), never the link or the picture;share_fail, with only how you tried to share and why it failedchallenge_landandchallenge_complete, with the test mode, the text, the WPM to beat, your WPM and how the link was shared, never the wordspractice_start, with how many words the practice has and the textrestart,keymap_toggle,how_it_works_openandconsent_decisionime_detected, at most once per page load, with only the browser family and operating system family, when a Korean input method on your computer interferes with the test (so we can fix it)
Google also records the usual technical details of a visit, such as the browser, device type and an approximate country derived from a masked IP address, and sets its _ga cookies to recognize a returning browser. The text you type is never sent. We do not sell or share anything, and nothing is used for advertising. Google keeps event data for 14 months.
Sharing a result
Share pictures are drawn in your browser and never uploaded. A challenge link holds only a number that picks the words, the test length, the text (words or sentences), your WPM and the version of that text: no name and no ID. When you open a shared link, how it was shared (a copied link, WhatsApp and so on) is kept in that tab's storage, under the prefix below, until it goes out once with a page view, which happens only if you accept analytics. Google Analytics never receives the link itself.
What stays in your browser
Your settings (the keymap, words, sentences or the game, and the level a game starts at), your last and best speed for each test length and text, your last and best Hangul Rain score, whether you have finished a test or a game before, your analytics choice, and how many first-time tips you have seen are kept in your browser storage under keys starting with hangul-typing.v1.. They never leave your device. Clearing this site's data removes them.
