This Privacy Notice for unglazed (“we,” “us,” or “our”) describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share (“process”) your information when you use our services (“Services”), including when you:
Download and use our mobile application (Chalkak), or any other application of ours that links to this Privacy Notice
Engage with us in other related ways, including any support conversations
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at chalkak.support@gmail.com.
What personal information do we process? Almost none. Chalkak has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA). We do record anonymous usage events tied to an app-generated install identifier that is not linked to your identity — see Section 1.
What happens to my photos? Photos are processed on your device to lift the object into a sticker. To name the object in Korean, the confirmed photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Google’s Gemini API to generate the word. The image is processed transiently to produce the response — we do not store your photos on our servers. Your collection lives on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your personal iCloud storage — never on our servers.
Do we use tracking, analytics, or ads? The app contains no advertising and no cross-app or cross-site trackers, and we never sell or share your information for advertising. From version 1.0.1 the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase for anonymous, aggregated product analytics — how many people open the app, take their first photo, or save a card. It does not collect Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA) and shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Do we collect any information from third parties? No.
How do I delete my data? Everything Chalkak collects — photos, stickers, and words — is stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud storage when you are signed in. Deleting an item in the app removes it from all your devices. Deleting the app alone leaves your iCloud copy (so your collection survives reinstalls); to remove that too, delete the app’s data in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud, or delete every item in the app first.
Information you provide. Chalkak requires no account and no registration. We do not ask for, and do not collect, your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
The only information that leaves your device is:
Information stored on your device and in your iCloud. Your captured photos, die-cut stickers, Korean words, and collection history are stored on your device and synced to the app’s private database in your personal iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), so your collection survives reinstalls and follows you across your devices. This data lives inside your Apple account, not with us — we have no server-side copy of your collection and cannot access your iCloud data. If you are not signed in to iCloud, the collection stays on your device only. You can view or remove the app’s iCloud data at any time in iOS Settings.
Device permissions. The app requests camera access solely to let you capture objects. Importing photos uses the system photo picker, which shares only the specific photos you choose — the app cannot browse your photo library.
When you confirm a capture, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) to our server endpoint, hosted on Google Firebase (Cloud Functions). Our server forwards the image to Google’s Gemini API, which identifies the object and returns its name and related word information. The image is processed in memory to generate this response.
Subject extraction (cutting the object out of the photo) happens entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework and does not involve any server.
We share information only with the service providers required to run the naming feature:
We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising or cross-app tracking. We may disclose information if required by law, but as described above, we hold effectively no information about you to disclose.
All transmission between the app and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Your iCloud-synced collection is protected by Apple’s CloudKit security, encrypted in transit and at rest within your Apple account. We have implemented appropriate technical measures designed to protect the limited information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our security.
Depending on where you live (for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability of your personal information.
Because Chalkak keeps your collection only on your device and in your personal iCloud account — with no data on our side linked to you — you can exercise deletion directly at any time: delete items in the app (removed from all your devices), or remove the app’s data from your iCloud storage in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud. If you have any privacy question or request, contact us at chalkak.support@gmail.com and we will respond in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Our Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children. The app has no accounts, no social features, and no advertising. If you believe a child has provided us personal information through the support email, contact us and we will delete it.
Our server infrastructure is provided by Google and may process requests on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using the naming feature, you understand that your confirmed photos are processed on such infrastructure as described in Section 2.
Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Notice. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently.
